What is Real Lives 2016?

Real Lives 2016 is a series of events hosted by the churches of Mottram and Hattersley that will explore how the Christian faith has transformed and enriched the lives of some well-known and some not-so-well-known people. These people have been impacted by a variety of challenging life events: living with disability, addictions, violence and warfare, bereavement, and religious intolerance.

Real Lives week runs from Wednesday 28th September to Sunday 2nd October 2016 and will be packed with a variety of activities for all ages. More details are available at Real Lives Week.

Throughout the summer a few ‘tasters’ have been organised to which you are warmly invited. These events will culminate in a week-long series of activities to be held at the end of September. See the page below for more information about each of these.

Join us for an inspiring evening of music and personal stories from Gus Eyre. Gus is a singer/songwriter (country, blues and gospel).

Gus says “I played Rock n Roll in clubs and pubs across the Northwest of England - picked up the ‘ways of the world’, a bad alcohol habit and met a man who said ‘there’s something missing in your life’ ... found peace and forgiveness and a satisfied mind when I became a follower of Jesus in the Summer of ’69."

A Real Life: Phil Burrows (with Roger Carswell)

7.30pm | 21st June | The Hub | Free Entry | Refreshments | Music from Gus Eyre

Roger Carswell will interview the former vicar at Mottram Parish Church, Phil Burrows, about his faith and experiences as a chaplain to the armed forces in Afghanistan.

Phil says “First I joined the Army and enjoyed soldiering but I left it and moved into parish ministry while also serving as a Territorial Army chaplain before returning to the Regular Army and serving in Nad ‘Ali District. I know that this is where God has called me and I serve in the strength that he supplies”.
